TRESCA INGENIERÍA PRESENTS A ROBOT THAT “INSPECTS” CRITICAL FACILITIES OF THE SECTOR TO PROTECT HUMAN LIFE
The Engineering Company from León, pioneer in hydrogen projects, hosted this morning the final meeting of the “INSPECTOR” project selected by the CDTI to promote improved functionality and management of unattended systems in large industrial sites.
León, 3 March 2022.
Tresca Ingeniería has hosted this morning the meeting that closes the “INSPECTOR” project, which has developed a consortium of 13 undertakings with the support of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) for four years.
After the meeting, the attendees were able to check the robot operation, designed by Tresca Ingeniería, to optimise inspection and maintenance in installations where access by operators is particularly difficult or may even threaten their safety.
It is an autonomous unmanned land vehicle, designed to operate in hostile locations. It is also capable of executing autonomous 3D mapping through its sensors. Both the software and hardware have been developed by Tresca Ingeniería under the “INSPECTOR” programme to promote improved functionality and management of unattended systems in large industrial sites, in which different companies participate, each with a separate proposal for improvement.
Apart from reaching inaccessible places, the second advantage of this unmanned vehicle is that it can be programmed to collect data autonomously. Thus, the system is able to receive data collection instructions from any device and take measurements periodically or at the user’s request. Upon completion of the measurements, the robot returns to the base station for charging and sending the collected data. The software developed within the project use these data to generate the 3D models that will be eventually analysed by technicians.
According to Raúl Rodríguez, Sales Director of Tresca Ingeniería and project manager, “the great advantage of this prototype is its usability, both for the safety of all staff and for its autonomy.” For the company from León, this project is a
“great development opportunity involving the application of the latest technology at a time when the industry carries out major changes due to decarbonisation processes, in their pursuit of incorporating new energy sources such as renewable hydrogen. Here, Tresca Ingeniería’s experience and provision of state-of-the-art technology have been put at the service of the industry.”
Hydrogen has become the industry’s great ally in this process. In this respect, Tresca Ingeniería emphasised that the application period for the H2 Pioneers projects starts next Monday.
The terrestrial robot designed by Tresca Ingeniería has been developed in cooperation with the Polytechnic Superior School from the University of Salamanca located in Ávila campus.
TRESCA: HYDROGEN AND ENERGY TRANSITION
This robot is yet another example of how Tresca is committed to making the world a better place. In fact, it has become a leader in the energy transition in the industry by participating in more than 50 green hydrogen projects across Spain. In this section, the León-based company considers that we are at a crucial time to take this step towards renewable energies.
The Spanish government has just published several plans to promote decarbonisation and reduce the carbon footprint of Spanish industry. These programmes will make it possible to change the current energy landscape. From 7 March, for example, applications can now be submitted for the H2 PIONEERS Programme, aimed at promoting the deployment of commercial applications for integrated projects that include production, distribution and consumption of renewable hydrogen in the same territorial location. Eligible actions are divided into the following sections:
- Renewable H2 production and distribution plant
- Industrial uses
- Uses for heavy vehicles
- Innovative stationary applications
Tresca Ingeniería has the technical solvency and proven experience in these aspects to help industrial projects that need to reduce their environmental impact through decarbonisation.
